F.A.S.T.

Dear FAST Families,

As you may have heard, our city pool is undergoing much-needed construction to ensure it remains a safe facility for our community. Although the city council had planned to begin the project earlier, unexpected circumstances delayed the start. Construction officially began at the end of February and is expected to continue through mid-summer.

Because of this, our board met and carefully explored every possible option that would allow us to safely hold a swim season this summer. After much discussion and consideration, including looking into Bishop State as an option, we made the very difficult decision that it is not feasible to hold FAST summer swim this year.

We truly dislike this decision as much as you do, but without access to a local pool, we simply have no way to operate a swim team.

If your child would still like to swim this summer, there are several local options we encourage you to consider and then join us next summer:

Local Summer League Teams:

Foley Swim Team
Lake Forest Swim Team
Bay Minette Swim Team
Gulf Shores Swim Team

Year-Round Teams:

• TNT Swimming (Daphne YMCA)

• CMSA (Mobile)

• Orange Beach Swim Team (Orange Beach)

We will genuinely miss spending our summer swim season with all of you. Please know this was not an easy decision for the board, and we carefully considered every possibility before reaching this conclusion.

Keep an eye on your email because we are planning to organize some team connection events this summer while we are out of the water and we would love to have you!

Just a reminder about Weather and FAST FAST will practice Monday thru Friday, Rain or Shine.

If it is just rain the swimmers will swim, if there is thunder and the lifeguards issue a "out of pool" order until all clear the Coaches will implement Land techniques and skills to help the Swimmer until the Pool is reopened.

Recreation continues to grow on rapidly in Fairhope, and consequently, our summer swim team has grown significantly over the past few years.We have had over 250 swimmers participate for the FAST Sharks for the past 5 years. In an effort to keep everyone informed about the FAST meets and events, we are constantly working to communicate as effectively as possible each summer. We will be posting current info on the FAST Facebook page as well as sending mass email messages. We have added this info page up for you to access as well. We hope this will answer any questions parents might have. Remember, we are all parent volunteers and we need your involvement and support.
